Sewing Lesson for 2 Students

Let's sew together! Things you can learn: how to read a pattern, how to hem pants, how to take care of your sewing machine, how to project a pdf pattern. And of course, you can learn to machine sew any number of items: garments (including kid and adult clothing and cosplay costumes), bags and accessories, t-shirts quilts... the sky is the limit! One-on-one instruction is for the absolute beginner and beyond! In addition to the knowledge you'll gain from instruction with Bloom Sewing's creator, Julie, you'll have access to: -Multiple Brother CS6000i sewing machines -Sewing notions (scissors, thread, needles, tape, purple thang, bodkin, pinking shears... the list goes on!) -A cutting station (fabric scissors, rulers, a rotary cutter and mat) -EuroPro iron and ironing board for pressing -Magcubic Mini Projector for pdf projector/A0-size patterns -Canon Printer for PDF printed patterns -Brother 1034D serger for sewing knits or finishing seams -Pre-washed fabric, Interfacing, elastic, zippers, wash-away tape, and more are all available for purchase (but feel free to bring your own if you prefer). Lesson will be at the Bloom Sewing Studio in Winchester, VA, unless otherwise arranged. Unfortunately, the entrance is down a large flight of concrete stairs and is not wheelchair-accessible. Please note that the final ten minutes of the lesson will be devoted to clean-up. NOTE FOR PARENTS/GRANDPARENTS: Private lessons are open to students age 7 and older. There is free wi-fi and plenty of chairs if chaperones wish to stay, though this is no longer required for minors and many parents prefer to go shopping at the nearby Costco or other Winchester-area stores.  The instructor (Julie) has spent several decades working with children, and most recently passed a background check in 2024 (performed for Winchester Parks and Rec).
