Machine Sewing: Making a Clear Vinyl Bag

$99.00Price
Excluding Sales Tax

Events at the 2026 Apple Blossom Festival will require a clear bag*, so come make your own!

Date: Sunday, April 19

Time: 2pm - 5pm

Age: 12 through adult (9-11 year olds are allowed with a second paid ticket for an adult who can provide additional help)

Venue: Bloom Sewing Studio at the Market Street United Methodist Church, 131 S Cameron St, Winchester, VA 22601. Free parking available on weekends on Cameron and Cork Streets.

Note: this class is for beginner and intermediate sewists, but you do need to know how to thread the machine, sew a straight stitch, and turn corners. If you would like to participate in this class and do not yet have these skills, please contact me at julie.napear@gmail.com to set up an Absolute Beginner lesson.

Total fee includes:

  • Start-to-Finish Instructions and demonstration of how to make your bag. Your instructor will also be there the entire time to answer questions and troubleshoot.
  • Use of the Bloom Sewing machines (Brother C6000i), iron, cutting implements, and sewing notions for one three-hour class. Not everyone will need that much time. For those that need a little extra time with the machine, we can arrange more time later in the week--I want everyone to end up with a finished bag!
  • All necessary materials, including:

-Pre-cut clear vinyl (.0016") for the bag body

-Zipper tape and pull (multiple options)

-Colored vinyl to cover your zipper (pink and green options)

-Hardware: d-rings (2), slide buckle (1), and swivel hooks (2)

-Webbing or fabric & interfacing for the strap

-Double-sided tape

-Polyester thread

  • Credit card fee

Please note that high-quality masks (KN-95 or better) are both PROVIDED and REQUIRED. I realize that this is a deal-breaker for some people; if that's the case for you, please DO NOT purchase a ticket. This class is open to ALL people, including those will compromised immune systems. It is also wheelchair-accessible!

Please email julie.napear@gmail.com to if you are not already on my Bloom Sewing list, or to request other dates/times for classes or private lessons.

Disclaimer: Bloom Sewing is not responsible for injuries. The machines have built-in safety features, but there is still risk in working with needles, irons, etc.

No refunds. If you can't make the class at the last minute, or are sick, please contact me asap about a replacement date. Kindly do not come to class if you are sick.
